LAND ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT RECONSTITUTES ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION COMMITTEE

The Department of Land Administration, FCTA, has reconstituted its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee to ensure faster, transparent, and efficient resolution of land-related disputes and to promote effective land governance in the FCT.
Inaugurating the Committee in his office, the Director, FCT Land Administration, Esv. Chijioke Nwankwoeze, said the Committee is responsible for the mediation and conciliation of land-related disputes, reviewing complaints and petitions, examining relevant land records, and advising management on appropriate resolutions upon unbiased interface with parties.
He said that the Committee will serve as an alternative mechanism to litigation, promoting amicable settlements and ensuring compliance with mutually agreed terms.
Nwankwoeze further stated that the initiative aligns with the reform agenda of the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, which is aimed at sanitizing land administration and improving service delivery to residents.
According to him, “The selection of Committee members was based on experience, competence, and the confidence reposed in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the effective discharge of the Committee’s mandate, particularly in the amicable resolution of disputes arising from land administration matters within the Federal Capital Territory.”
He further stated that the initiative reinforces the Department’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and the rule of law in land administration, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Responding on behalf of members, the Chairman of the Committee, Esv. Samuel Agbana, expressed appreciation to the Director for the confidence reposed in them and assured that the Committee would discharge its mandate with utmost transparency, fairness, and professionalism, without fear or favour, to ensure speedy and amicable resolution of disputes in line with its Terms of Reference.
