WIKE OPTIMISTIC ONGOING PROJECTS WILL BE COMPLETED ON SCHEDULE
…REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR TINUBU IN 2027

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), HE Nyesom Wike, has expressed strong confidence that key ongoing road projects across the FCT will be completed and handed over on schedule ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike, who said this while speaking to journalists after an inspection of three major road projects across the nation’s capital on Monday, 21 September 2026, commended the contractors handling the projects.
He inspected work on the Inner Southern Express Way and the Southern Park Way, being done by China Geo-engineering Corporation (CGC), as well as the Nile University Road, leading to Ring Road 3, with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) as contractors.
He assured that initial concerns regarding execution timelines had been addressed by the contractors.
The Minister highlighted that the performance across the construction sites demonstrates that the developmental promises made by President Bola Tinubu’s administration are firmly on course to be fulfilled.
According to him, the contractor of the Southern Parkway project has confirmed that heavy earthworks would commence immediately as soon as seasonal rains subside, keeping the project on target for a January 10 completion date.
Addressing political developments surrounding his political alignments, he dismissed allegations from the Progressive Governors Forum that his support initiative, the Rainbow Coalition, is intended to destabilize political parties or harm the President’s political standing.
He stressed that the primary objective of the coalition remains mobilizing cross-party and independent support to secure President Tinubu’s re-election for a second term.
Drawing parallels to the G5 movement in 2023, the Minister noted that bringing together like-minded stakeholders across party lines had previously delivered electoral success without undermining party governance.
Responding to claims that the political arrangement is part of a personal strategy to position himself for the presidency in 2031, Wike characterized the accusations as baseless speculation driven by political anxieties.
He reaffirmed that his present focus remains on delivering infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory and supporting the goals of the current administration under President Tinubu.
