The Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage (DOAS) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has joined other organizations across the world to celebrate the 2026 Customer Service Week, with a call for a stronger interface between the department and its clients.
The Overseeing Director of DOAS, Dr. Azaki Sunday Kachiwoyi, stated this in an interview during the commemoration of the week in Abuja.
According to Dr. Kachiwoyi, Customer Service in DOAS is the section where the department interfaces with its clients, who are its practitioners and taxpayers.
He explained that aside being a revenue-generating agency, DOAS has the responsibility of maintaining a cordial relationship with its practitioners.
“Customer service in our department, Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage, is where we interface with our clients. Aside from being a revenue-generating agency, we interface with our practitioners, who are our clients and they are our taxpayers,” he said.
The Director noted that this year’s Customer Service Week has been interesting and impactful, as both the clients and the staff who interfaced with them expressed satisfaction.
“The Customer Service Week has been an interesting week. The clients, our practitioners are happy. The staff who interface with them too are happy. Everybody is happy for this Customer Service Week,” he added.
On whether the celebration should be a continuous exercise, Dr. Kachiwoyi said the department can introduce it twice a year, depending on policy guidelines, to create more awareness and unity between regulators and practitioners.
He said the department can leverage activities such as roadshows and distribution of flyers to bring unity between the staff who are regulators and the practitioners who are taxpayers.
Speaking on the achievements of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Dr. Kachiwoyi said DOAS stands to benefit immensely from the infrastructural development being witnessed in the FCT.
According to him, as the Minister opens up more roads, DOAS has more opportunities for outdoor advertisement structures, which he described as street furniture.
“Fantastically, the Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage stands to benefit more and more with what our Honourable Minister is doing. He has opened up roads, and as he opens up roads, outdoor advertisement is what we refer to as street furniture. Without road openings, we cannot have advertisements on those roads. In a nutshell, the Minister has done very well, not only for the department, for the entire FCT administration,” he stated.
