Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that the FCT Administration’s bold infrastructure drive, security interventions, and strategic engagement with indigenous communities will build overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Tuesday, 13 October 2027, the Minister insisted that political support should be earned through tangible results rather than mere campaign promises.

He emphasized that the current Administration’s performance across the Territory will ultimately speak for itself when voters make their choices.

According to him, governance has been brought significantly closer to residents through aggressive infrastructure development, sustained consultations with traditional rulers, and inclusive dialogue with stakeholders across all the six Area Councils.

Wike noted that this hands-on approach has successfully addressed longstanding concerns among indigenous communities and non-native residents alike.

Highlighting the growing political consensus behind the current administration, the Minister revealed that former senators, former members of the House of Representatives, and past Area Council chairmen recently united in support of the FCT leadership, transcending party lines.

He stated that their collective backing reflects a broad recognition of the Administration’s inclusive governance style rather than partisan politics, stressing that regular engagement with traditional rulers and community leaders -an aspect he noted was neglected by previous administrations -remains central to his administration’s agenda.

Addressing security concerns across the Territory, the Minister disclosed that the FCT Administration has taken proactive steps by constructing at least two police stations in each of the six Area Councils.

He reiterated that the Administration’s development agenda is intentionally decentralized, ensuring that transformation extends well beyond the Abuja city centre to satellite towns and rural communities on the outskirts.

As part of efforts to sustain this momentum, the Minister announced plans to commission at least 10 major projects before the end of December, including the crucial road corridors linking Karshi to Apo, Kubwa to Bwari town, and many other areas.

These projects, he explained, offer concrete proof of the government’s commitment to balanced territorial development.

Wike firmly dismissed suggestions that his political mobilization in the Territory was merely aimed at securing the minimum constitutional electoral threshold for the president in the FCT.

Rejecting the notion of aiming low, he maintained that as the coordinator of the FCT campaigns, target-setting is focused on a decisive victory, expressing confidence that direct community engagement has effectively taken the government’s message to every household, even as the ultimate decision rests with the electorate through the democratic process.

The Minister also defended his record on issues affecting FCT indigenous communities, particularly regarding appointments and the elevation of traditional institutions.

He challenged critics to cite any previous civilian administration that has done more to accommodate indigenous interests, adding that arrangements are currently underway to present certificates and staff of office to eligible traditional rulers.

Clarifying public utility concerns, including reported water supply issues in Karu despite the commissioning of a local project, Wike explained that the government’s responsibility lies in providing major trunk infrastructure and primary access points.

He noted that individual property connections remain the responsibility of residents, emphasizing that the Administration has already established the necessary foundation for reliable public access.

The Minister maintained that the Administration’s unbroken track record in project execution, heightened security, and genuine community partnership will remain the ultimate deciding factor in earning the public’s trust and votes.

Wike praised President Tinubu for providing examplary leadership in taking bold and difficult decusions, acknowledging that though things were challenging, the reforms would yield positive results and preserve the country’s economy.
