Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has successfully brokered a broad-based political alliance tagged the “Rainbow Coalition,” uniting key figures across the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to secure total victory for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing a high-level stakeholders’ gathering in Abuja on Monday, 12 October 2027, Wike declared that partisan divides must be temporarily shelved in pursuit of a common objective: delivering the FCT and ensuring the continuation of President Tinubu’s administration.

He emphasized that the coalition is anchored on mutual progress, unprecedented infrastructural growth in satellite towns, and structural reforms within the FCT administration that have finally granted career civil servants a pathway to the highest echelons of service.

Highlighting recent developments across the Territory, the Minister pointed to massive road completions, including the Apo-Karshi road project, expanded police infrastructure across all Area Councils, and the establishment of dedicated secretariats for women and youth.

Drawing parallels from successful cross-party political alignments in other states, Wike expressed absolute confidence that the combined political machinery of the coalition would deliver an unassailable victory for the presidency and aligned legislative candidates.

The meeting drew enthusiastic endorsements from prominent political heavyweights, including former council chairmen, serving lawmakers, and local party leaders who formally pledged absolute loyalty to the coalition’s mandate.

Prominent figures such as Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda and other regional stakeholders took turns to commend the minister’s transformative leadership and infrastructural strides, vowing to mobilize grassroots support seamlessly ahead of the polls.

Reiterating his commitment as the operational lead for the FCT and Rivers State elections, Wike assured supporters that all administrative and logistical hurdles have been systematically cleared to guarantee a smooth and decisive electoral triumph.

Wike expressed confidence that President Tinubu would win in the FCT because residents now know what governance means in the nation’s capital.

His words: “No president has ever remembered that for years, the law has been there: you must establish FCT Civil Service Commission. But when this President came, and I met him, I said, ‘Sir, FCT is indeed like a state. They should have their own civil service commission. They should be the ones that should be employing their own people, promoting their own people.’

”But what used to happen before is that the Head of Service of the Federation would look for one permanent secretary in any of the Federal Ministries and post them to FCT. So, you see that and nobody in FCT has ever attained to be a permanent secretary.

”You would retire as a director. That alone is a disincentive. That alone will make the workers not put in their best. Today, FCT has its own Head of Service appointed from the civil servants of the FCT. So, it’s no longer where you take somebody from outside.

”And today, we have not less than six permanent secretaries. So, everybody now works like, ‘If I get to director, I may be a permanent secretary. If I get to permanent secretary, I may be a head of service.’ That is hope, unlike what was before,” he stated.

According to him, there is no Area Council in the FCT where the President has not positively touched. ”Challenge me that I said there’s no Area Council that this administration has not been able to touch. In fact, what is touching most people is that Apo-Karshi road; by the grace of God, this November, that road will be completed.

”That road was awarded in 2010. 16 good years—2010. 16 good years. Look at the one they call ISEX, we’ll do this December. But it was awarded in 2014—2014.

”We have been able to enter all the nooks and crannies of the FCT. As I speak to you, we have built not less than two police stations in each of the Area Councils with accommodation.

”Go and see the schools we have renovated—go and see them. We have not been showing those, because for me, you can’t be showing renovation of a school. Today, people say when they come to Abuja, they miss their road.

“Why won’t they miss their road? It’s our business to make them miss their road and then later know the road. That is to say something is happening in Abuja,” he said.

He also threw his weight behind Tinubu’s reforms in the security architecture of the country, including state police, describing it as another bold decision the President is taking which past governments only agreed was the right action but did not take.

The Minister disclosed that the administration has accorded due recognition to traditional institutions in a manner past governments were afraid of doing, insisting it was the right thing to do.

”If not for the grace of God, and bringing somebody like the President, by now we would have been gone. The economy was in total comatose. So, you need to take hard decisions which will affect us temporarily, but will benefit in the longer run.

”It’s true. And I’m telling you that it is true. See, ask—he has taken a bold decision before, and when I was governor, I’ve never received more than ₦14 billion from FAAC. Never.

”Today, my own state—other states—my own state receives 200 billion in a month. Some states that received 2.5, others are receiving 30, 40 billion. Which means money has been made available to states to be able to do something. It was difficult before,” he stressed.

The Minister also spoke on the affairs of Rivers State, revealing that he was also coordinating the state for President Tinubu’s re-election, vowing to ensure his victory in the oil-rich state.
