Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, has convened a massive political gathering in Bwari Area Council, bringing together key figures from the All-Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), along with traditional rulers, and others, under a cross-party platform tagged the “Rainbow Coalition.”

Addressing the multi-party audience, on Thursday 22 October, 2026, Wike declared that political parties are merely vehicles designed to convey leaders to positions of service, adding that once governance begins, the primary focus must remain on meeting the needs of the electorate.

Reflecting on past political outcomes in the Territory, the Minister urged residents to assess the performance of elected officials and refrain from repeating previous electoral mistakes.

In his words: “The mistake we made in 2023, will we make that mistake again? If it was an error, will we make that error again?”

Wike asked the gathering, emphasizing that the time has come for residents and indigenes of the FCT to present a unified political front to ensure effective representation and development across all six area councils.

Formally endorsing candidate alignments under the coalition framework, Wike presented Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda alongside John Gabaya for the House of Representatives on the APC ticket, assuring the crowd that these candidates possess a deep understanding of the local challenges.

He stressed that the coalition’s single-minded goal is to deliver total victory for President Bola Tinubu and all designated candidates in upcoming elections.

Highlighting ongoing infrastructural interventions across the territory, Wike assured the people that the Tinubu administration remains fully committed to transforming the Area Councils’ Road networks and social amenities.

“Let me authoritatively tell you today, by the grace of God, this December you will do Christmas on this road, Bwari to Kubwa,” Wike promised, reassuring residents that all projects executed under his leadership stem from the explicit approval and direct backing of President Tinubu.

Underscoring his stance on reciprocal political support, the Minister stated that his commitment to any community or political alliance relies on mutual cooperation and loyalty.

“I cannot stand before you and make promises that I will not fulfill. I cannot do that. So, anything I say here today, go home and sleep with your two eyes closed, it will be done. So, if you do for me, I will do for you. If you fall for me, I will fall for you,” he asserted.

Demonstrating political reconciliation within the coalition, Wike publicly commended a former House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Julius, for stepping down from his contest to maintain unity and political harmony in Bwari Area Council.

“When I sat down with leadership, we agreed for Joshua. And I called him. I said, ‘Look, for the sake of what we are doing, for the sake of the next year’s election for Mr. President, can you please step down so that we can have a peaceful election?’ Instantly, he stepped down,” Wike recounted.

Rewarding the candidate’s political compromise, Wike announced an immediate recommendation to the presidency to place him in charge of the Territory’s basic education agency.

“Let me say here today, immediately I leave here, I will write a statement to Mr. President for appointment. He will be the man I will recommend to Mr. President for him to be in charge of FCT UBEB,” the Minister concluded, charging the crowd to mobilize en masse for the election.

Lending strong support to the Minister’s political initiative, the FCT APC Chairman, Tanko Yamawo, commended Wike for fostering an unprecedented level of political cohesion across party lines in the FCT.

The APC chairman pointed out that the benefits of the Rainbow Coalition extend beyond individual political figures to all politicians across the FCT.

He noted that giving Bwari Area Council a candidate of its own reflects a well-timed and inclusive political strategy.

Yamawo concluded by stating that Bwari remains the second largest beneficiary of the FCT Administration’s ongoing development drives after Abaji Area Council.

On behalf of APC members, he assured the Minister that the people of Bwari are fully prepared to support the party and deliver victory come 2027.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Joshua Ishaku, welcomed the FCT Minister and reaffirming the council’s unalloyed loyalty to his directives.

He reminded the gathering that Wike had previously stood in the same venue to campaign for him, leading to his victory as council chairman, and noted that the visible development projects across the council are proof that the Renewed Hope agenda is fully active.

He added that the council’s leadership and residents remain fully obedient and ready to follow all instructions issued by the Minister to ensure total victory for the administration’s lineup.

Adding his voice, the FCT PDP Chairman, Mohammed Dogara, declared that party loyalists across the council have been fully “rainbolized” (renewed under the coalition) following directives from party leadership.

He explained that residents no longer need to protest or carry placards to demand basic infrastructure, as the administration continues to spontaneously deliver rural roads, secretariats, and commissions.

Dogara stated that the upcoming election serves as a time for the FCT to pay back President Tinubu for his tangible performance across the Territory.

Traditional institutions in the council also offered their total endorsement, led by the Esu Bwari, Ibrahim Yaro, JP, who expressed gratitude over the upgrading of traditional stools and the massive road interventions transforming Abuja into a modern city.

Joining him, the Sarkin Bwari, Alhaji Muhammad Auwal Ijakoro, commended the administration for providing potable water and constructing vital road axes such as Takushara, Ushafa, and Bwari-Kubwa, among others.

Both traditional rulers assured the Minister that the traditional institution will mobilize its people to ensure peaceful, credible, and victorious elections for all supported candidates.

Women and youth group representatives who also spoke at the well-attended event pledged to support re-election of President Tinubu and other APC candidates for next year’s general election.
