A Nigerian student in the Diaspora, Miss Annabel has made donations of food, textbooks, clothes and other sundry items to the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, Durumi, in Gudu District of Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Making the donations to the school in Abuja last Thursday, the volunteer student from the United States of America said she was inspired by the need to assist the educational endeavours of students from the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in FCT.
Annabel said she heard of the IDPs while she was in the US and decided to reach out to them with the items as well as offer moral support in the form of English classes now that she is here in the country.
Among other guests who were present during the occasion were the principal convener and Head of FCTA Call Centre, Mrs. Jumai Ahmadu, the Director, FCT Emergency Management Department, Alhaji Abas Idris as well as a representative of the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB).
Mrs. Ahmadu, in her remarks, explained that Annabel’s unrelenting desire to support the children prompted her to contact the Deputy Director, FEMA.
