FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has warned that no one has the right to stop government from carrying out public works in the Territory.

The Minister gave the warning on Wednesday during inspection of on-going projects within the Federal Capital City (FCC).

Wike said this in response to an earlier concern raised by the Acting Executive Secretary, Engr. Richard Dauda, that Gishiri community people’s protests had hindered progress of work on the community portion of the N16 Expressway, before they later gave peace a chance and allowed work to continue.

The Minister, however, generally expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work on all the projects he inspected; stressing that contractors were willing to give their best whenever there was good management of resources.

The Minister thanked members of communities hosting projects for peaceful conduct and supporting the contractors to deliver on time.

He appealed to some residents of the communities affected by the projects not to worry; assuring that the FCT Administration would take care of them.

Speaking about waste management in the satellite towns, Wike said he was “not impressed” with the handling of waste management, indicating that new contractors would soon be brought on board to do the job.

Other projects inspected include construction of the Gwarinpa I District (Life-Camp) road connecting Ring Road III around Gwagwa, Interchange at NICON junction and the 40-unit Judges Quarters, among others.
