FCT ‘Renewed Hope School Sports Festival’ Set To Begin

All is now set for the Second Edition of the Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike ‘Renewed Hope School Sports Festival’ 2025, which bring together talented young athletes from across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and youth empowerment.

According to a statement from the FCT Education secretariat, the Director,Department of School Sports, Malam Hashimu Adamu said this year’s festival promises an extraordinary showcase of talents, featuring public and private schools competing at the primary, junior, and senior secondary levels.

He said the festival will feature a wide range of sports activities notably:
Track and Field Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, relays, and long-distance races, high jump, long jump, shot put, and javelin.

For Team Sports there will be Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Handball, while Board Games will feature Chess, scrabble, and traditional games like Ayo and Ludo.

The Director explained that the preliminary competitions are to be held at zonal levels from February 3 to 14, with the grand finale scheduled for February 24 to 27 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

He pointed out that the importance of sports in shaping young minds cannot be taken for granted.

Adamu thanked the Minister for his commitment to fostering physical development, discipline,unity among students as well as building not only future sports champions but also responsible citizens who understand the value of teamwork and perseverance.

He therefore called for support and active participation by sports enthusiasts and stakeholders who are passionate about youth and community development and also solicited for corporate sponsorship to support the festival and ensure its sustainability.
