The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is committed to the strict implementation of the Abuja Master Plan as envisioned by its founding fathers.

This stringent of the Abuja Master Plan is aimed at averting challenges confronted in the older cities in the country.

The Directors of Development Control, FCT Administration, Tpl. Mukhtar Galadima, gave the assurance when he received a delegation of Executive Committee of the National Institute of Town Planners (NITP), that paid him a working visit in his office, at Zone 6, Wuse I District, Abuja.

Galadima further assured that the Department of Development Control will work to maintain that Building Plans are being approved in accordance with the Land Use of designated areas.

His words: “Developers must have respect for physical development guidelines and rule of law are properly guided.”

He commended the Institute and appreciated the solidarity and uncommon support of the national body in ensuring that the Abuja Master Plan is implemented in accordance with the rules and guidelines for effective and successful physical development of the nation’s capital.

Galadima encouraged Planners to remain focused not to be deterred by few elements who have chosen to sabotage the effort of implementation of the Abuja Master Plan; advising members of the Institute not to be discouraged by the antagonistic posture of some of the practitioners.

The Director noted that the Staff and Management of the Department are well motivated by the visit and will remain resolute to ensure that the Abuja Master Plan is sternly implemented.

Speaking earlier, the President of National Institute of Town Planners Dr. Chime Ogbonna, frowned at the level of harassment and intimidation Planners go through, while discharging their legitimate duties and called on perpetrators to desist from such act or face the wrath of law.

Ogbonna, who described Planners’ job as hazardous, affirmed that no country, town or city can realize its physical development potentials without the sacrifice and efforts of the Planners.

He commended the FCT Administration, particularly the Minister, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, for his massive support in ensuring the actualization of Abuja becomes the modern capital city with its aesthetic beauty.
