…Says Abuja is a Gateway to Investment in Nigeria

The Group Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer (GMD/CEO), of Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL), Dr. Maureen Tamuno, has declared that going by the monumental achievements being recorded by the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, particularly in the provision of quality infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be fulfilled appointing Nyesom Wike as the FCT Minister.
Tamuno said the Minister since assumption of office has set the pace for massive infrastructural development of the nation’s capital, which all of his appointees are also striving hard to emulate.
The Group Managing Director, who stated this while receiving the delegation from the Department of Information and Communication, FCT, led by the Director, Mr. Muhammad Hazat Sule, on a working visit at her office, Garki II District, Abuja, Tuesday, said the company is poised to take advantage of the World Class infrastructure being provided by the current leadership of the FCT Administration to woo foreign investors to the Territory.
Tamuno, who commended the FCT Minister for paving the way for quick infrastructural transformation of the Territory through his courageous leadership in administering the 48-year-old Territory, promised to leverage on the moment to turn around the fortune of the company.
She stated that Abuja, which has huge mineral deposit as well as conducive business friendly environment, is indeed a gateway to investment in Nigeria.
According to her, AICL under her watch is prepared to partner with stakeholders such as the Department of Information and Communication, FCT, to unlock the hidden investment opportunities that exist in the Federal Capital Territory to the World.
The former Nigerian Ambassador to Jamaica with concurrent accreditation to the Caribbeans disclosed that the firm is collaborating with Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Nigeria to project Abuja as an investment destination in Africa.
She further disclosed that arrangements are at advanced stage for the company to hold its median Abuja International Business Summit, which would attract at least 500 key investors to the Territory.
Tamuno assured foreign and domestic investors of a huge return on investment in Abuja.
The Ex-Member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, who is also a training and management expert revealed that she has set strategy in place for the revival of the ailing subsidiaries of the company, especially the Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited, which is in comatose by introducing innovations such as e-ticketing as well as blocking of leakages to generate more money into the coffers of the investment company.
“We will change the fortune of AICL. To us, the Minister has given us the direction and target that we will achieve, for the good of the company,” she said.
Earlier, the Director of Information and Communication, FCT, Mr. Muhammad Hazat Sule, said he was visiting the company to seek for partnership between the AICL and the Department of Information and Communication towards realizing the vision of the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, in achieving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ in the FCT.
The Director, who was accompanied on the visit by other officials of the Department and some Management staff of Abuja Digest Newspaper, commended the GMD/CEO of AICL for her efforts in transforming the company just within a short time in office and promised the support of the Department to the organization.
Sule, urged the company not to hesitate in requesting for assistance from the Department; saying that the Department is a reservoir of information on all the activities of the FCTA and also has the required expertise in projecting the image of the FCT Administration and all its agencies.
“Madam, I am excited to be here today. It is clear that you are willing to transform this company. This visit today was initiated by you, you are not the first GMD of this company, but you are the first to seek for this kind of collaboration with us. I will fully support you to achieve your mandate. Luckily, some of us have been here when this company was established. As such, you can take advantage of our knowledge to enhance the performance of your duty”.
