FCTA Trains 600 Youth Entrepreneurs

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has completed the training of 600 youth entrepreneurs in the Territory to make them contribute meaningfully to society.
Accordingly, the training apart from making them to compete favourably on the global space, will also equip them to be employers of labour.
The training, which is in partnership between the FCT Education Secretariat and i – Dreams World is envisioned to train about 10,000 FCT youths on Digital Entrepreneuship.
The Mandate Secretary, FCT Education Secretariat, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, who spoke at the closing ceremony of the first phase of the Abuja Digital Entrepreneuship Drive at the Arts and Culture Exhibition Pavilion, Abuja, said that the target is to have youths from the FCT compete globally.
The Mandate Secretary was represented at the occasion by the Director, FCT Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Olobashola Kolawole.
His words: “Our target is to have locally produced goods that can compete in the global market. Entrepreneuship requires specific skills to create desired innovative solutions, products and services. The World is now being driven by technological advancements, and for any nation to thrive, her ideologies must key into this fast move to ensure global competitiveness.”
The Director, Department of Mass Education, Hajiya Hajara Alayanda, who also spoke at the event, said the FCT Administration was open to more collaborations.
She said: “The FCT is ready for partnerships to drive entrepreneuship because this is the future of our children. The SDG’s cannot be achieved without laudable collaborations.”
On her part, the founder of i- Dreams World, Amb. Ego Phillips, explained that the target was to train 10,000 youths in the FCT.
She, however, noted that 600 participants have successfully completed a hybrid training programme focused on digital entrepreneurship skills.
“Our focus is on empowering individuals to start small scale business from the comfort of their homes and scale them globally using digital tools,” Phillips added.
The founder said that Abuja Digital Entrepreneuship Drive is aimed at teaching entrepreneurs how best to harness the digital space since it is a global market.
