Students of the FCT College of Nursing Sciences, Gwagwalada, have recorded an exceptional performance in the May 2025 final qualifying examinations for General Nursing, conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), achieving an impressive 98.17% pass rate — the highest in the country.

Commending the students’ outstanding achievement, the Mandate Secretary of the FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat (HSES), Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, noted that the performance has brought great honour to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Dr. Fasawe affirmed that the FCT Administration, through the HSES, remains committed to sustaining this remarkable standard by continuously improving the college’s learning environment and academic infrastructure.

She revealed that the students have been consistently successful in their exams over the years.

“This is not the first time the college is blazing the trail in professional examinations,” she said.

According to her “Over the past two years, it has consistently emerged as one of the best-performing institutions. This trend is a testament to the effectiveness of the FCT Administration’s efforts in enhancing healthcare education.”

The Mandate Secretary emphasised that excelling in an examination conducted by the highest regulatory body of the nursing profession in Nigeria demonstrates that the College is producing quality graduates who are equipped to uphold the standards and ethics of the profession.

Also speaking on the results, the Acting Director of Nursing Services at the HSES, Mrs. Florence Dojhudje, disclosed that 9,472 candidates sat for the General Nursing examinations nationwide.

Out of these, 109 candidates were presented by the FCT College of Nursing Sciences, and 107 of them passed.

She also highlighted the college’s stellar performance in other categories, including the Foreign Trained Nurses examination, where all three candidates presented by the college passed, achieving a 100% success rate.
