The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Olusade Adesola, has challenged Corps Members posted to Abuja to register their imprints in their respective host communities where they will be deployed to undergo their primary assignment by embarking on Community Development Services (CDS).

Adesola gave the charge during the Swearing-in Ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Programme at the FCT NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Friday.

The Permanent Secretary, who called on Corps Members to identify areas of needs, such as, health, education, infrastructure and environmental sustainability prevalent in their resident communities and work assiduously towards bridging these gaps, said that in doing this, they would contribute significantly to the overall development of the FCT and the nation at large.

Adesola, who took time to highlight the importance of the NYSC Scheme in promoting national unity, equally urged the Corps Members to actively participate in activities that would foster unity within their communities.

The Permanent Secretary enjoined Corps Members to remain compliant with the Camp rules and regulations as well as staying away from various social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, prostitution, internet fraud etc, during and after the orientation exercise.

He also called on the Corps members to take advantage of their one-year compulsory service by acquiring industry-oriented skills that would enable them to be successful in their future career as well as enhance their personal sustainability.

While explaining that Abuja is relatively secured, Adesola assured Corps Members that all necessary security measures had been put in place to ensure their safefy; adding that FCT Administration has always given top priority to the security of lives and properties of FCT Residents and visitors alike.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Administration towards prompt payment of monthly allowance to all Youth Corps Members under the service of the Administration as well as other welfare packages.
