ASSISTANT DIRECTOR SARAH ODUGBO BAGS NUJ-FCT WOMEN IN MEDIA TRAILBLAZER AWARD

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCTA Chapel has celebrated one of its distinguished members, Sarah Odugbo, an Assistant Director (information) following her recognition with the prestigious Women in Media Trailblazer Award during the 2026 NUJ-FCT Press Week.
The award formed part of activities commemorating the 2026 Press Week themed, “2027 Election: Defending Democracy in the Era of Disinformation.” The event attracted journalists, media executives, political stakeholders, security experts and other prominent personalities from across the country.
Mrs. Odugbo was recognised for her remarkable contributions to journalism and her consistent dedication to ethical reporting, balanced storytelling and responsible media practice.
Over the years, she has distinguished herself as a committed media professional whose passion for truth, accountability and public enlightenment has earned her respect within and outside the journalism community. Her professionalism and resilience have also played a vital role in promoting democratic values and strengthening responsible journalism in Nigeria.
Speaking on the recognition, Chairperson of the NUJ-FCTA Chapel, Ngozi Uloma Ufomba described the award as a well-deserved honour for a journalist whose excellence and dedication continue to inspire others.
“Congratulations, Mrs. Sarah Odugbo. Your hard work is speaking loudly, and the FCTA Chapel is proud of you,” she stated.
The chapel noted that the honour further affirms Mrs. Odugbo’s reputation as a shining example of professionalism and a worthy ambassador of the union. It added that her achievements remain a source of inspiration to colleagues and aspiring journalists.
Friends, associates and members of the chapel also celebrated the award recipient, expressing confidence that the recognition would open greater opportunities and milestones in her journalism career.
The 2026 NUJ-FCT Press Week concluded with renewed calls for ethical journalism, media responsibility and stronger collaboration among media practitioners in safeguarding democracy and combating misinformation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
