FCT MPWB WINS BEST ACCOMMODATION AWARD IN MAKKAH, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PILGRIMS’ WELFARE

The Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT MPWB) has emerged as the Best Nigerian State Pilgrim Board in Accommodation in Makkah, during the last concluded Hajj exercise, earning a merit award from the Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR).
The award was presented to the Director of the Board, Malam Kadiri Edah, during the Organization’s Annual Hajj Lecture and Award Ceremony, held last week at the Abuja National Mosque Auditorium.
Receiving the recognition, Director Kadiri dedicated the award to the FCT Administration for its commitment to infrastructural development and citizen-centred initiatives under the leadership of the FCT Minister, His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Wike and the Honorable Minister of State, Hajiya (Dr) Mariya Mahmoud.
Kadiri said the award reflects the Board’s efforts to provide FCT pilgrims with quality services and comfortable accommodations during the annual Hajj exercises.
He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to the welfare of FCT pilgrims, particularly through the provision of standard accommodations close to the Holy Haram in Makkah, timely airlifting, quality meals and other essential services during the 2027 Hajj exercise and beyond.
According to him, the Board would continue to improve its services and prioritise the comfort, safety and spiritual needs of FCT pilgrims throughout the Hajj exercises.
More than 1,530 FCT pilgrims performed the 2026 Hajj and were accommodated in five standard pilgrims’ hotels in Makkah.
Two of the hotels were located within the vicinity of the Holy Haram, while the remaining three were situated around the Misfalah Zone, which is also relatively close to the Holy Haram.
Meanwhile, three other individuals associated with the Board also received separate awards for their contributions to the success of the FCT 2026 Hajj exercise.
They include two ad-hoc Islamic preachers attached to the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Tajuddeen Adigun, OON and Sheikh Muhammad Nuru Khalid, as well as a former staff of the Board, Malam Abubakar Haruna.
The recipients were recognised for their respective contributions to the education, enlightenment and religious guidance of FCT pilgrims during the Hajj exercise.
The four awards, according to the Director, underscore the Board’s continued commitment to enhancing service delivery and improving the Hajj experience of pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory in future.
