TWO RESIDENTS RESCUED AFTER BUILDING COLLAPSE IN KUBWA

Two residents trapped under the rubble of a collapsed one-storey residential building in Kubwa 2/2, near Yellow Page, Abuja, have been rescued.

The building, comprising six blocks of flats, reportedly collapsed at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

The FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) said it received a distress call concerning the incident at about 11:38 a.m.

According to the agency, the right section of the building collapsed, trapping two tenants who were inside their ground-floor apartment at the time.

Other residents were reportedly away from the building when the incident occurred.

Several household belongings were destroyed in the collapse.

The two rescued victims were taken to Kubwa General Hospital for medical attention and are said to be in stable condition.

Officials of the Department of Development Control and the FCT Police Command also responded to the scene.

Authorities are expected to assess the building and determine the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
