An indigenous group in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the auspices of Abuja Original Inhabitant Youth Empowerment Organization (AOIYEO) has called on the former governor of River state, Barr Nyesom Wike, who was just appointed as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to repeat the kind of infrastructural developments he bequeathed to River state capital, Port Harcourt in Abuja.

The organization made the call in a release signed by the president of the group, Commandant Isaac David following the announcement of the Ministers portfolios by the office of the Secretary of Government of the Federation, Wednesday, in Abuja.

According to the statement, the original inhabitants of Abuja are very delighted to welcome Barr. Nyesom Wike to the Federal Capital Territory as Minister because the city being the seat of Nigeria’s government, needs an experienced hand to manage the Territory.

The statement reads thus: “It would be a disservice to the country to bring in someone who is not experienced on how to manage a capital city like ours, but given the background of the new Minister, we are very confident that his giant strides in port Harcourt would be replicated”.

It reads further that development of Abuja in all ramifications required somebody who is bold to maintain strict adherence to the Abuja master plan, restore normalcy in the area of security and strongly commit to nation building, adding that Barr Nyesom Wike have what it takes to repeat such traits in Abuja.

“Most importantly, we urge the Minister to carry along all Abuja indigenous stakeholders especially the youth in running the government because proper understanding of complex nature and structure of Abuja requires that Minister interacts with the original inhabitants and the residents for a successful tenure.” The statement reiterated.

He further stated that the Minister must see the reason why the constitutional rights and identity of these natives have to be respected because taking this serious would go a long way in drawing the support of these peace loving people.

David noted that it will gladden the hearts of Abuja natives, if the Minister can write his name in the history books just as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did by appointing Hon. Zaphaniah Jisalo, as the first and only member of Federal cabinet in the last 50 years.

He acknowledged the fact that for every success recorded by any government has some iota of cooperation, supports and encouragements from the people, Isaac therefore advised both indigens and residents to rally round the Minister to be able to achieve the agenda of the renewed hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
