FCTA HCS COMMENDS LAND ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT ON REFORM AGENDA, SERVICE DELIVERY

The Head of Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan mni, has commended the Department of Land Administration for its commitment to the FCT Minister’s land administration reform agenda, and its efforts to improve service delivery to residents.

Nathan gave the commendation during the official handover of the assets and liabilities of the Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT to the Department of Land Administration.

The transfer followed the FCT Minister’s approval for the Secretariat of the Ad-hoc Committee to be domiciled in the Department of Land Administration.

Presenting the handover note to the Director of Land Administration, Esv. Chijioke Nwankwoeze, the Head of Civil Service explained that the Minister had directed the creation of a dedicated division within the department to handle all matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

She said the initiative was aimed at sanitising the process, recovering government properties affected by infractions, and ensuring that all future transactions involving Federal Government Houses were conducted through the Department of Land Administration.

According to her, the reform is also designed to restore order, accountability and transparency in the administration of government properties, in line with the Federal Government’s 2003–2005 Monetization Policy Framework.

Nathan further praised the management of the Department of Land Administration for effectively implementing the FCT Minister’s reform agenda and for its continued commitment to delivering quality services to FCT residents.

Responding, Nwankwoeze thanked the Head of Civil Service for overseeing what he described as a seamless transfer and for formally presenting the handover note to the department.

He assured that the Department of Land Administration would immediately commence the process of reviewing and cleaning up existing records, recovering properties with infractions, and ensuring that all future dealings involving Federal Government Houses are conducted transparently and in accordance with established government policies.

The ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Common Services, Dr. Rotimi Ajayi Babatunde, as well as management staff of the Department of Land Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS).
