STDD COORDINATOR TASKS WASTE CONTRACTORS ON CLEAN, GREEN MANDATE

The Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Hon. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, has charged waste management contractors operating in the Federal Capital Territory’s satellite towns to take their responsibilities seriously and ensure the areas remain clean and green.

Zulkiflu gave the charge on Thursday, August 27, 2026, while addressing waste management contractors on the terms and conditions of their engagement with the department.

He said the contractors must demonstrate commitment to their assignments and work in line with the directive of the FCT Minister, HE Nyesom Wike, to improve environmental sanitation across the satellite towns.

The Coordinator warned that contractors would only receive payment for work actually carried out, stressing that the FCT Administration would closely monitor their performance.

According to him, the Minister is committed to achieving effective waste management in the satellite towns and expects all stakeholders to align with the administration’s vision.

He urged the contractors to ensure that the objective of creating clean, healthy and environmentally friendly satellite towns becomes a reality.

Zulkiflu directed the contractors to commence full-scale evacuation of accumulated waste across their areas of operation from September 1, 2026.

He further called on them to maintain a consistent and effective waste evacuation system, noting that the success of the clean and green initiative depends largely on their diligence and compliance with the terms of engagement.
