FCTA To Support Corps Members Deployed To FCT-Mahmoud

The FCT Administration has expressed its determination to give the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Federal Capital Territory the needed support to ensure maximum results.

Accordingly, this will, no doubt, give due recognition to the schemes role of unifying the different Corps members across tribes, ethnicity, and religion; thereby, fostering National unity and cohesion.

The Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, gave this assurance at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Tuesday.

Mahmoud urged the Corps Members to diligently participate in all Camp activities, especially the regimented nature and discipline of Camp environment.

The Minister, who was represented at the occasion by the Mandate Secretary, FCT Social Development Secretariat and Chairman, NYSC FCT Governing Board, Ibrahim Aminu, assured the Corps Members of their Safety and Welfare within available resource; noting that the FCT will ensure their welfare and safety are guaranteed.

Mahmoud advised them to be law abiding and security conscious.

She encouraged Corps members to take very seriously, the Oath of allegiance they have deposed to.

According to her, “I expected that through your comportment and other activities, they will provide mentorship to the youths of the FCT and spearhead development-oriented programme, which will complement the efforts of Government at all levels in the FCT”.

The Minister stated that the deployment policy of the NYSC, which ensures that young Nigerians are posted to States other than their own is expected to engender unity and promote nation-building.

“The FCT teeming Youths, Women and the indigent persons are in dire need of support, which will help them develop their various talents for productive creativity,” she added.

In her welcome address, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka, said that the Orientation Camp is regimented with different activities lined up for their strict Compliance.

The Coordinator remarked that it is designed to install discipline, physical fitness and strong leadership traits as well as entrepreneurial training for self-reliance through the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.

She extends the deep appreciation of the NYSC Management and Corps Members to the FCT Administration for the continuous support accorded to the Scheme and providing an enabling environment required to host the Orientation Course.
