NUJ FCT Council Loses Treasurer

The Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ) FCT has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of its vibrant and outspoken leaders, Aisha Kadala.

Kadala died in the early hours of Friday, July 5th 2024 as a result of ill health.

She was a staff of Abuja Broadcasting Corporation (AsoRadio/TV) where she left her mark as a Defence correspondent.

She was also a strong pillar behind the ABC NUJ Chapel as well as a mentor to her colleagues.

She was until her death, Treasurer of NUJ FCT Council.

A statement released in Abuja Friday, jointly signed by Comrades Oseratin Osadebamwen and Ochiaka Ugwu, Chairman and Secretary of the Council respectively, noted that Kadala was a great pillar to the Union and a committed comrade.

According to the statement, “Hajiya Kadala will always be in our consciousness given the role she played in our Union and her medium, Aso Radio/Television where she plied her trade.”

“Kadala as a former Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ, left an indelible mark of success and progress based on her achievements, which were unprecedented. No doubt, her demise has thrown the journalism World into deep mourning,” the statement added.

She was buried on Friday at the Gudu Cemetery after funeral prayers at the National Mosque, Abuja.
