Igu-Bwari Gets Divisional Police Station

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Benedict Igweh, has commissioned a new Police Division in Igu, Bwari Area Council of the Territory.

In his address during the brief ceremony, the Commissioner said the facility is provided to strengthen the security challenges occasioned by the persistent attack of some rural communities within the Bwari Area Council in the recent times.

Igweh said that one Divisional Police Station would not be enough to curb the security challenges in the area, thus the need to provide this additional one.

On his part, the Chairman, Bwari Area Council, John Gbabaya, thanked the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his special interest in securing life and property in the Territory, which has led to the establishment of additional Police Station in the Bwari Area Council.

The Chairman said that the economic activities of the area have been negatively affected by the nefarious activities of the bandits.

According to him, the establishment of the Igu Divisional Police Station, no doubt, will restore the hope of the people, who are mostly farmers.

He charged the residents to let the spirit of ‘Police is your friend’ to be in place for cordial relationship to curb criminalities in the area.

The Sarkin Bwari, Alhaji Auwal Musa Ijjakoro, who was represented at the occasion by Ibrahim Yau (Dantani Dantsoho) commended the FCT Commissioner of Police, Benedict Igweh for his professional commitments in fighting criminalities across the FCT.

The Sarkin Bwari also made a personate appeal for the establishment of the Area Command in Bwari to make policing more effective in the area.

On his part, the Esu Bwari, Ibrahim Yaro appreciated the Bwari Area Council Chairman for not resting on his oars to respond to the security challenges.
