Ahead 2019 polls: ACSS campaigns against violence in FCT, sensitizes residents

As campaigns for the 2019 General Elections heat up, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Services Secretariat (ACSS) has called on political players and residents in the Territory to steer clear of issues that may ignite violence before, during, and after the polls.
Secretary of the Secretariat, Senator Isa Maina, said with peace in FCT communities, more dividends of democracy will be enjoyed by residents.
He said the Secretariat in line with the present FCT Minister’s belief in scaling up measures for better living condition of residents, was committed to ensuring that people are well sensitized to support government to promote peace.
In a statement signed by the Director, Administration and Finance, ACSS, Surajo Ado Faskari, the Secretary urged religious and traditional leaders to preach peace and its sustenance to their followers at all levels.
The statement explained that the Secretariat was working with the six Area Council Chairmen in driving its mandate of peace and prosperity in FCT.
Senator Maina stated that sensitization is ongoing to ensure that residents understand the significance of peace and unity within their areas.
“We have stated sensitization through town hall meetings, placement of adverts on radio and television stations to push the message closer to the electorate,” he stated
The Secretary pledged his commitment to do everything to have a conducive atmosphere for stakeholders and residents.
