FCT Agric Secretariat To Witness Sectoral Transformation

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will assiduously work towards the sectorial transformation of the Agricultural sub-sector to match the ever increasing population of the Territory.

Accordingly, the Agricultural sub-sector in the Federal Capital Territory has a lot of potential of providing employment for the teeming youth population apart from being an enabler of feeding her citizenry.

The new Mandate Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, gave assurance while officially taking over the mantle of leadershipof the Secretariat in Abuja, in the wake of the recent reshufflement by the FCT Minister, Nyeson Wike.

The new Mandate Secretary noted the critical role agriculture plays as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, particularly in light of its rapidly growing population.

His words: “Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy and with the increasing population in the FCT, it is imperative that we embrace innovative practices to enhance food security, create jobs, and empower the youth.”

Ango underscored his zero-tolerance policy for complacency; urging the staff to prioritize professionalism and teamwork.

The Mandate Secretary expressed heartfelt gratitude to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for entrusting him with the responsibility.

Welcoming the Mandate Secretary to Secretariat, Engr. Gbemi Josiah Omole, Director of Cooperative and Rural Development, who spoke on behalf of the ARDS management team, assured the Mandate Secretary of the teams full support in achieving his vision for sustainable growth in the agricultural sector.

“Your leadership comes at a pivotal time when we need to make positive impacts on the lives of FCT residents and we are confident that your expertise will usher in a new era of progress and development,” he added.

The shake up in the FCT Administration saw Ango swap positions with the former Mandate Secretary, ARDS who was redeployed to the Youth and Sports Secretariat.
