The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will strengthen collaboration and partnerships with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for mutual benefits.

Mandate Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, stated this while receiving a delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Professor Wataru Yamazak, the agency’s Country Representative in Nigeria, that paid him a working visit in his office.

The Mandate Secretary commended the partnership between the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and assured that it will be taken to greater heights.

Ango said that as Nigeria’s capital, the FCT deserves top-tier services, particularly in critical sectors like veterinary services.

He also assured the delegation of the FCT Administration’s commitment, under the leadership of Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, to supporting initiatives that align with the vision of making Abuja one of the World’s best capital cities.

His words: “The current FCT leadership is prioritizing infrastructural development, not just in the city center but across all six Area Councils.”

“Having recently assumed office, I am keen on strengthening our collaboration with JICA to further transform the agricultural sub-sector,” he added.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Professor Yamazaki, appreciated the Secretariat for its warm reception and highlighted the Agency’s plans to train FCT Veterinary Doctors.

He explained that the visit is aimed at developing a tailored training manual in partnership with the Secretariat’s Veterinary Services Department; focusing on modern abattoir management and global best practices.
