The FCT Police Command has launched series of strategic raids on notorious black spots across the Federal Capital Territory.

The operation, aimed at dismantling criminal networks and protecting public and private infrastructure, has yielded remarkable results, with 348 suspected criminals arrested and 320 prosecuted.

This was contained in a Press Statement signed by the FCT Command, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh and made available to Abuja Digest, Tuesday.

The statement revealed that the Command’s efforts have been focused on preventing crime, protecting infrastructure, curbing drug abuse and trafficking, and enforcing the law.

By targeting identified black spots, the Police has disrupted activities that lead to the theft and vandalism of public infrastructure, such as manhole covers, streetlights, and power cables.

According to the statement, “Some of the areas raided by the Police include Apo-Dutse Panteka, Diplomatic Zone, New PDP Secretariat, Kabusa Panteka, Ajakaita (Tungan-Maje) and Abuja-Kaduna Road”.

Other areas included “Jabi Panteka, Apo-Waru Panteka, Area 1 (Monkey Village), Durumi Village, Gwarimpa, Angwan Tivi, Mpape (Mashafa and Shishinpe villages), Durumi III (Burukutu Garden), Mabushi (Gishiri Village), Kubwa (by Pipeline and NEPA Road) and Maitama (under the Transcorp Bridge)”, the statement added.

The operation has also led to the recovery of critical infrastructure, including 26 manhole covers, 20 solar/streetlight poles, AEDC armoured cables, and 11 firearms.

The Police Command’s successes have been significant, with a 15.1% reduction in crime incidents within the FCT recorded between 2023 and 2024.

The FCT Police Command has assured that it remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
