Abuja Building Collapse:37 Rescued, 2 Fatally Injured, Rescue Efforts Ongoing

A two-storey building, which serves both residential and commercial purposes has collapsed on Wednesday night at the popular Lagos Street, in Garki II District of Abuja.

The building that collapsed is at Lagos Street,Garki Village opposite the Garki police station in the Federal Capital Territory.

The FCTA Emmergency Agencies have since commenced rescue efforts to minimize possible casualties.

Accordingly, a combined team of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Federal Road Safety Corps,(FRSC), FCT Police Command and the officers of the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services popularly known as VIO are on ground carrying out rescue efforts.

Although, there is still ongoing search and rescue operation, which has been intensified at the scene, 37 persons were rescued alive, while 2 othere were fatally injured.

Meanwhile, FEMA and other emergency team are awaiting excavators to intensify the search to ensure that no victim is left in the rubble of the collapsed building.
