FCTA To Prioritize Plans For Next Generation

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will prioritize plans for the next generation of Nigerians.

The Permanent Secretary, FCT Youth Development Secretariat, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, gave this assurance, while receiving a Non-Governmental Organization,’Governance and Accountability, Youth Hub Africa’ in her office at the Youth Development Secretariat at Area 10, Garki I District, Abuja Wednesday.

The Permanent Secretary said that the Nyesom Wike led FCT Administration would ensure the youth receives the needed attention, thus the creation of Youth Development.

“The Federal Capital Territory Administration has put adequate plans on ground for the next generation, the youth in the country,” She said.

The Permanent Secretary explained that no nation neglects its youth and expects to experience real and sustainable development.

Her words: “Government is making a deliberate youth focused policy that meets them in their space and that is why there is a Ministry of Youth and Sports development at the Federal level and the Youth Development Secretariat, in the FCT. We will do everything we can within this limited space to make sure everything concerning youth development is attended to.”

Nathan thanked the Youth Hub for their concerted effort in drafting the FCT Youth Development Policy, in collaboration with the Youth Development Secretariat and involving every critical stakeholders to make significant contributions and inputs.

“We will painstakingly examine the policy document and adopt it as a roadmap, thereafter, a strategy document will be derived from it. A memo will also be raised to the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Ezenwo Neysom Wike, informing him of the need to assent to it, hoping for an expeditious assent, to enable us to run with it,” she added.

Earlier, Mr. Peter Ogah, Programme officer for governance and accountability, Youth Hub Africa, who led the team, whilst congratulating the Permanent Secretary on her appointment also expressed confidence that the Secretariat is in the hands of seasoned professionals who are truly and passionately committed and intellectualy competent to pilot youth development in the Territory.
