New Health Secretary Takes Assumes Office

The new Secretary, Health and Environmental Services, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, has taken over as the 11th Mandate Secretary of Federal Capital Territory Health and Environment Secretariat (FCT-HES) formerly known as Health and Human Service Secretariat (HHSS).

This comes after the Inauguration and Swearing in ceremony of Mandate Secretaries by the Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, following their appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking during the Handing/Taking over ceremony held at the Secretariat, the Mandate Secretary emphasized the need for team work amongst the top management staff of the Secretariat as a prerequisite to achieving success.

Fasawe noted that, the Secretariat will take a new face and achieve giant strides under her leadership for service to humanity as well as improve health care service in the FCT, especially in the area of Maternal mortality.

While commending the efforts of the management staff in ensuring a smooth handing over of the Secretariat’s affairs on her assumption of duty, Fasawe expressed her excitement towards the team spirit she observed amongst the management staff and encouraged them to continue in the same light.

The new Secretary explained that without a good environment you cannot have good health, because your environment determines your well-being health wise.

Until her appointment as the Mandate Secretary of HES, Dr. Fasawe was the General Manager of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA). She is a Medical Doctor who has practiced for many years and has attained Medical Degrees within and outside the country like the prestigious London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Liverpool, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife in Osun State and Lagos State University among others.

Earlier, the Director Administration and Finance of Health and Environment Secretariat, Mr. Malan Noel Haruna, who was the Acting Secretary said Dr. Fasawe is an achiever evident in her never taking “No for an answer” but believes in exploring possibilities to tackle issues within in a time limit.

Malan enjoined all the management staff to support, cooperate and give their utmost best to the Mandate Secretary in order to measure up and improve the health and environment of FCT.
