ROTARY CLUB WUSE CENTRAL HANDS OVER RENOVATED JAHI 1 PHC to FCTA

The FCT Administration has reiterated its readiness and desire to welcome and partner with Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other development partners in providing effective and quality health care services to FCT residents.

The Mandate Secretary of FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat Dr Adedolapo Fasawe said this during the handover ceremony of Jahi 1 Primary Health Care Centre renovated by Rotary Club Wuse Central to the FCT Administration.

The Mandate Secretary, who was represented at the occasion by the Director, Public Health Department Dr Theresa Nwachukwu expressed Government’s gratitude to the club for their gesture also called other organisations to emulate Rotary Club in rendering services to humanity .

Earlier in his goodwill message, the Executive Secretary of FCT Primary Health Care Board, Dr Dan Gadzama, said that Rotary Club’s intervention aligns perfectly with the vision of the FCT Administration and the mandate of the FCT Primary Health Care Board to provide accessible, equitable, high-quality and people-centred primary health care services.

A functional and conducive health facility, he further said encourages greater utilisation of services, promotes safer childbirth, improves infection prevention and control, enhances staff morale and ultimately contributes to better health outcomes.

He pointed out that the renovation of the labour ward is particularly commendable as it directly supports the government’s ongoing efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality and assured the Rotary Club of necessary oversight and support to ensure that the investment is properly maintained for the benefit of present and future generations and that facilities and donated items would be put to optimal use.

The Executive Secretary who was represented by Dr Nicholas Okoli urged the Jahi community to take ownership of the facility and protect it from vandalism and support it’s maintenance

Also speaking at the occasion the president of Rotary club of Wuse central and president of presidents RI District 9127 Rex Hegen Aii said that the club adopted Jahi 1 Primary health care centre and Jahi Community and incorporated them into their core focus of improving maternal and child health and providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene, and expressed the club’s commitment to improve the  lives of people at the community level.

Features of the rehabilitated Primary health care centre include renovation of the Delivery Room, full-scale water reticulation in the facility, full-scale landscaping and interlocking of the facility, Birthing and Mama kits for 100 women, polio immunisation for 150 children and provision Micro nutrient powder and Vitamin A for 1000 women.
