Residents of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have been assured of more dividends of democracy.

AMAC Chairman, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, who made the pledge, expressed gratitude to the residents for their support and prayers throughout the prolonged legal battle,
which started from the tenure elongation to the election petition tribunal up to the appeal tribunal where the legal battle was finally won.

The pledge, which was contained in a press statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Kingsley Madaki, and made available to Abuja Digest, noted that Maikalangu’s victory at the Appeal Court could not have been possible without support of the residents and other major stakeholders.

It says: “The battle for supremacy for the soul of the AMAC Chairmanship position would not have been won without the support and prayers of good-hearted residents of AMAC, who decided to fight for justice and for the mandate they voted for”.

According to him, he would concentrate and work for the people who elected him into office; stating that distractions were over.

Maikalangu said that his administration would concentrate on developing rural communities, especially by providing rural electrification, feeder roads, pipe-borne water, among other basic amenities that would benefit residents in rural communities.

He specifically called on residents to expect 80 percent infrastructural development in the rural areas and 20 percent in the urban areas of the Council, explaining that the decision to give the rural areas bigger percentage was due to their neglect in previous administrations.

The AMAC boss, therefore, appeqled for more support and prayers from residents for the success of his administration; reiterating that his government would do everything within its powers to see that everyone, irrespective of political, religious and tribal affiliations, was carried along.
