FCTA Committed To Sustainable Agricultural Development

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola, has reiterated the Commitment of the Administration to creating an enabling environment for the sustainable growth of the Agricultural Sector in the FCT.

The Permanent Secretary, represented by the Acting Secretary, Agriculture & Rural Development Secretariat, Mallam Ishaq Abubakar Sadeeq, made this declaration during a visit by a delegation of Pan African Quality Infrastructure (PAQ), which is under the auspices of the African Union Commission (AUC), organizers of the Africa Cassava Conference scheduled to hold in Abuja in October 2023.

Adesola said, though the Federal Capital Territory is an urban city undergoing rapid infrastructural development, it is blessed with enormous potentials for sustainable Agricultural activities with the capacity to contribute to not only food production but enhancing food security.

He remarked that the Administration has opened its doors to cooperating with well-meaning organizations towards unearthing the potentials of the sector.

His words: ”The Administration remains very determined to create the enabling environment for organizations that have the genuine interest of adding value to the Agricultural sector. We have in pursuant of this objective ensured that all the Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDA’S) of the FCT Administration key into the Ease of Doing Business Initiative, which the Federal Government has been advocating.”

The Permanent Secretary appreciated the choice of Abuja as the host city for the Conference; noting that the event will give a boost for the growth of the casava value chain, not just in the Federal Capital Territory, but the country at large.

He, therefore, assured that the Administration will through the Agriculture & Rural Development Secretariat work with the organisers towards the success of the event.

Earlier in his remarks, leader of the delegation, who is also the Chairman of Pan-African Quality Infrastructure, Mr. Celestine Okanya, stated that the Africa Cassava Conference, 2023, which has the theme “Stimulating Africa’s Industrialization.
