President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has been commended by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) original inhabitants for nominating one of their own, Zaphania Bitrus Jisalo, for a ministerial slot.
Abuja Digest can authoritatively report that this is the first time an indigene has been nominated and will be appointed minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Speaking on Thursday in Apo, Abuja under the aegis of FCT Youth Stakeholders, Comrade Bitrus Lawrence Garki, noted that the nomination was “a step in the right direction towards inclusivity and fairness for the Original Inhabitants and residents of the FCT.”
Regretting that lack of inclusion of indigenes as Minister was a source of concern for the Abuja natives, Garki urged that the historic gesture should set a precedent for future administration to follow in the spirit of social justice for all Nigerians, adding that the nomination also “signals a refreshing change in attitude towards the plight of the original inhabitants”.
According to him, the development will not only pave way for increased representation of the people at the Federal level, but will also inspire deeper participation from them.
He praised the President for taking a step that would bridge the gap between the original inhabitants and the rest of Nigerians, thereby, fostering a lasting harmonious relationship between them and others in the nation’s capital.
The youth, therefore, pledged their continued support to the President for his vision for country, appealed to him to also resolve their other challenges, and called on other leaders to emulate him.
