FCTA Establishes Fire And Rescue Training Centre

Following the quantum of the incidences of fire outbreaks in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the FCT Administration (FCTA), has established a Fire and Rescue Training Centre to curtail the menace.
FCT Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike revealed this while addressing the stakeholders during the Public Lecture and Unveiling of FCT Fire Service Programme at Area 3, Garki Abuja; saying that the Training Centre is situated in Kaura District of the Federal Capital City, Abuja.
Wike, who was represented at the occasion by the FCTA Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola, described the theme of the Lecture, “Safety and security Information: Panacea Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria,” as apt; emphasizing that security and safety are indeed fundamental pillars to every society towards achieving sustainable development.
He reaffirmed that a safe and secure environment cannot be over-emphasized, because it is a sure bet for sustainable development for any society across the globe.
The Minister urged the residents to maximize the opportunity provided by the FCT Fire Service by receiving effective training that will pave the way for maximum safety and prevention of fire outbreaks in their respective residences.
He commended the Centre for Regional and Strategic Studies, National Defence College Abuja, that has partnered the Fire Service to record this success.
Welcoming guests to the occasion, the Acting Director, FCT Fire Service, Engr. Zacchaeus Amiola Adebayo, disclosed that the established training center will aid in impacting useful knowledge not only limited to the staff of FCT Fire Service.
He said that training of some personnel at the established centre had already begun; emphasizing that the Centre would ensure effective service delivery in the FCT.
His words: “Please, be informed that we have already set the ball rolling-as from now, you will receive our invitation for programmes (days/week etc) from us for the training of your personnel, organizations, establishments Agencies, schools, Hospitals etc, please, cooperate with us.”
