NAPPS executive with Danlami

The newly elected executives of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), FCT Chapter, led by its President, Mrs. Dorothy Okwuenu, paid a courtesy visit to the FCTA Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, at the Education Secretariat.

Receiving the executives, Dr Hayyo congratulated the new executives on their emergence and emphasized the critical role private schools play in complementing government efforts in the education sector.

In his remarks, the Secretary for Education urged the school proprietors to ensure they pay all outstanding annual charges so that the Minister can consider and oblige some of their requests.

Dr. Hayyo also encouraged school proprietors to uphold high standards of discipline, professionalism, and academic excellence in their various schools, stressing the importance of collaboration between private school owners and the government in advancing quality education across the FCT.

Speaking earlier, the newly elected President of NAPPS-FCT, Mrs. Dorothy Okwuenu, expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to the delegation and reaffirmed the association’s readiness to work closely with the Secretariat in promoting quality education across private schools.

She, however, presented a 10-point prayer to the FCT Mandate Secretary, bordering on school charges, capacity building for private school teachers, provision of school land for NAPPS members and the Secretariat, as well as a downward review of annual taxes, among others.

Also speaking, the Director of the Department of Quality Assurance, Hajia Hajarat Titilayo Alayande, highlighted the importance of compliance with educational policies and standards, regular monitoring and supervision of schools, teacher development and training, improvement of learning environments, and effective communication between private schools and the department.

Alayande assured the NAPPS executives of the department’s continued support through guidance, supervision, and professional collaboration aimed at improving educational outcomes.

The meeting was described as cordial and productive, with both parties expressing commitment to sustaining a strong working relationship for the advancement of education.

The highlights of the meeting included the need for continuous engagement and dialogue, strict compliance with educational regulations and standards, and strengthened partnership between private school proprietors and education stakeholders.

The visit concluded with a reaffirmation by the new NAPPS leadership of its commitment to quality education, professionalism, and cooperation with relevant government agencies.

Other executives of NAPPS who accompanied the President include the Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adeoye; Assistant Secretary, Mrs. Grace N. Ejiofor; Auditor, Dr. Engr. Moruf Ajao, Financial Secretary, Mrs. Glory Mfon, Treasurer, Mr. Ovada Michael, and Mr. Joseph Agbana, the Public Relations Officer of the Association.
