The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that more than 20 landmark projects will be commissioned across the FCT as part of activities marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

Wike disclosed this during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Abuja on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work being executed by contractors ahead of the commissioning ceremonies.

The Minister also revealed that President Tinubu is expected to personally commission key projects located in rural communities and satellite towns, particularly road and water infrastructure projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents outside the city centre.

According to him, the administration’s intervention in rural areas has, for the first time, given many residents a sense of belonging and visible evidence of governance.

“During the President’s two years in office, we went to Kwali for the commissioning of the A2 to Pai Road, and this time around, by the grace of God, he will also commission one or two rural area projects, especially water and roads,” Wike said.

He added that the projects spread across the territory were already changing public perception of governance in the FCT, stressing that residents now feel the impact of government beyond Abuja.

The Minister inspected several strategic projects, including the Court of Appeal complex, judges’ quarters, Collector Road CN2 in Katampe, the Gaduwa access road, the OSEX main carriageway, and the access road leading to the Wasa informal sector relocation site.

Speaking on the level of progress recorded, Wike said the Court of Appeal complex and judges’ residences were nearing completion, with painting, furnishing, and installation of facilities already ongoing.

“Unlike what you used to see there before, there is serious improvement now. The air conditioners are cooling, the courts are being furnished and the finishing touches are ongoing. I am very satisfied with the quality of work,” he stated.

The Minister also commended China Geo-Engineering Corporation for the progress made on major road projects, noting that most of the work remaining involved walkways, streetlights and road markings.

At the Wasa informal sector site, where the Apo Mechanic Village is expected to be relocated, Wike disclosed that roads and streetlights had already been completed while water connections and security infrastructure were being finalised.

He noted that the relocation project would boost economic activities and transform the area into a major commercial hub.

“You can imagine what this place will look like when the Apo mechanic businessmen and women move here. That is governance — direct positive impact on the lives of the people,” he said.

On the political implications of the administration’s performance, Wike expressed confidence that President Tinubu and the APC would secure victory in the FCT in future elections due to the visible infrastructural transformation taking place across the territory.

“What the people want is impactful governance. It is simple, if you provide what the people need, they will support you,” the Minister said.

He referenced recent Area Council election outcomes, noting that the ruling party recorded victories in areas previously dominated by the opposition, including around the Presidential Villa.

Wike further dismissed claims that the administration was giving special attention to the judiciary because of his legal background, insisting that all sectors were benefiting from government interventions.

“To make the judiciary independent, you must provide the necessary infrastructure and welfare. But it is not just the judiciary. We are touching roads, schools, water projects and other sectors across the FCT,” he added.

The Minister also called on residents to continue supporting government programmes while praying for peace and unity during the Sallah celebration.
