The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Rivers State chapter, has declared that President Bola Tinubu faces no political opposition in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

They attributed the cleared political landscape to the strategic leadership of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike.

The Rivers State ALGON Chairman and Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government, Hon. Allwell Ihunda, made this disclosure in Abuja during a solidarity visit by council chairmen to support the Minister at the official flag-off of the Tungan Madaki-Zuba road project, on 13 July, 2026.

According to Ihunda, the “rainbow coalition” envisioned by the FCT Minister has effectively unified various political interests in Rivers State, paving the way for a seamless electoral victory for the President in the next general elections.

“In Rivers State, the forthcoming election in 2027 is going to be a walkover,” Ihunda stated. “For the first time in the history of Nigeria, we have the rainbow coalition where virtually all the political parties are working together just for the interest of the federal government and for the interest of the President.”

The council chairmen expressed immense pride in Wike’s ongoing developmental strides in the nation’s capital, noting that his infrastructural achievements reflect positively on his home state.

Ihunda commended President Tinubu for appointing Wike, emphasizing that the Minister’s performance has validated the administration’s governance drive.

The solidarity visit coincided with the 24th day of a 31-day marathon of project commissioning and flag-offs in the FCT, organized to commemorate President Tinubu’s third year in office.

The FCT Minister praised Wike’s visionary leadership, stating that the rapid transformation of Abuja’s landscape is unprecedented. He concluded that the visible governance milestones across the country would naturally drive the electorate to demand a second term for President Tinubu in 2027.
