FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday flagged off work on the construction of a five-kilometre access road in Saburi, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

The flag off was the sixth and last of such ceremonies the Minister has embarked upon in barely two weeks.

According to the Minister, delivery of significant projects, such as roads and others, which the residents had given up hope on, was part of President Bola Tinubu’s vision of restoring the long lost hope of the people.

Urging FCT residents and indeed, all Nigerans to pray for good health and wisdom for the President to success in the delivery good things, Wike noted that though things were tough at the moment, there was hope and a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

Wike stressed that when things are really bad, it required more time and more patience for a positive turn around, which he was confident would surely materialize; adding that if it were not so, he would not have throwned his weight on.

While appreciating support of the people for the President and programmes of the FCT Administration, Wike reiterated that political party was simply a vehicle that conveys one to a destination and when he gets there, he gets down to face governance.

His words: “Governance is about what the people want. Nothing will stop us.”

He gave this assurance and appealed to members of the National Assembly to expedite actions on budgetary processes and provisions so the roads he flagged off could be completed on schedule.

Amidst thunderous cheers and applause, Wike promised the people that he would ensure construction of the Gwagwa-Karmo-Deidei road after delivering the ongoing road project in the Councils.

He also indicated that, he would take a little time out and return for another round of projects flag off at the Area Councils.

Abuja Digest recalls that the Minister has repeatedly stated that he does not like carrying out projects that would take more than one year for completion.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council thanked the Minister for rescuing the people; saying that they experienced terrible conditions transiting the area, especially during rainy season.

Maikalangu, however, stated that the Almighty has answered the people’s prayers “by sending Mr. Project to Sabiru today.

“Today is a very significant and remarkable day to the people of Sabiru because their long awaited requests and demands have been met via your pragmatic, tremendous and unprecedented leadership as the Minister of FCT,” he said.

The Chairman requested for the construction of Gwagwa-Karmo-Deidei road; saying it was another major road that was of great importance to the people.

Sarkin Jiwa, HRH Idris Musa, in a good message, also hailed Wike for the project and appealed for more.

The Monarch urged the Minister to look into abandonment of a project for the construction of shops within his domain; revealing the site has turned into a den for criminals who kill and kidnap.
