FCT Minister, HE Nyesom Wike, has expressed strong confidence that two major road projects, including the Inner Southern Expressway (ISEX), will be completed and handed over to residents by the end of December.
Wike disclosed this while speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following an inspection of the project sites across the City Centre.
He also revealed that the Inner Southern Express Way (ISEX) project, originally awarded in 2014, has spanned ten years.
The Minister highlighted the critical importance of the arterial route to the Territory and expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the full release of funds required for its first phase, measuring approximately 5.4 kilometers of road alongside two key interchanges.
Looking ahead to the December completion target, Wike expressed optimism over the visual and economic transformation the finished projects will bring to Abuja’s landscape.
He credited the progress to the substantial support provided to the FCT by President Bola Tinubu, while also appreciating FCT residents for their continued cooperation and the absence of community-related disputes during construction.
The Minister lauded the project contractor, CGC for demonstrating commitment and confidence in the administration by maintaining momentum on site despite past delays in financial mobilization.
Urging other contractors in the Territory to emulate CGC’s work ethic, Wike emphasized that community development should sometimes supersede immediate profit motives, assuring them that every responsible government eventually honors its financial obligations to working contractors.
He further cautioned contractors against being discouraged by pressure or lobbying from non-performing companies, stressing that true commitment contributes directly to the success of President Tinubu’s administration.
