Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed the contractor handling the road project near the FCT Fire Station in Kaura District to extend the construction to connect with the major Oladipo Diya Road.

Wike said the extension would increase the overall impact of the project and improve connectivity for residents and commuters within the district.

The Minister gave the directive on Friday, July 31, 2026, shortly after inspecting the ongoing road construction in the area.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, noting that a critical section of the road leading to the bridge had already been completed.

According to him, although the contractor had assured the FCT Administration that the initial scope of the project would be completed and handed over by December, efforts were being made to incorporate the additional extension into the project schedule.

Wike said extending the road to Oladipo Diya Road would make the infrastructure more beneficial to residents and other road users, stressing the importance of maximising the impact of government-funded projects.

He also assured the contractor of the FCT Administration’s commitment to prompt payment, saying measures were already being taken to process outstanding financial obligations and ensure that funding did not hinder the pace of construction.

The Minister said the completion of the road project would significantly transform the physical landscape of Kaura District and create new opportunities for economic development.

He noted that the ongoing infrastructure development was already encouraging increased residential and commercial activities in previously undeveloped parts of the district.

Wike said the growth in development was particularly beneficial to the real estate sector, while also creating opportunities for businesses and employment.

He reiterated the FCT Administration’s commitment to completing ongoing road projects across the territory to approved standards and within stipulated timelines.

According to him, the infrastructure projects form part of efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda to improve connectivity, stimulate economic activity and enhance living conditions for residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
