Workers’ Day: FG Declares Monday Public Holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria, today has declared Monday 1st May, 2023 as public holiday to mark this year’s Workers Day celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbosola, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government in Abuja, on Friday 27th April, 2023.

In the statement, the Minister urged all workers in Nigeria to live up to the expectations by discharging their respective responsibilities diligently and vigorously in order to attain a set goal in all agencies of the government.

Aregbesola, enjoined all workers across the federation to always strictly adhere to the civil service rules as they have been made to guide the conduct of civil Servants towards attaining set goals.

The Minister used the opportunity to task the Civil Servants to be supportive in the nation’s security; adding that security is everybody’s business.

He, therefore, urged all Nigerian workers to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry.

The Minister called on the civil servants across the federation to use the occasion of this year’s Workers Day celebration to pray for government for a successful forthcoming transition of power slated to take place in May 29th 2023.

While wishing Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora a happy and peaceful celebration of Worker’s Day, Aregbesola, once more assures Nigerians that the Nation is persistently on the path to greatness and urged everyone to positively deploy their creative energy for the full realisation of the Nation’s building.
