Benue Journalists Hails Governor Alia Over Supreme Court Victory…. Urges Political Elites To Support Him To Succeed

The Conference of Benue Journalists (CBJ), has congratulated Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State on his affirmation by the Supreme Court as the duly elected governor of Benue State in the March 2023 Governorship Election.

CBJ in a statement by its President, Anule Emmanuel, and made available to Abuja Digest Newspaper, said the verdict by the nation’s apex Court brought to an end the long legal tussle between the two main political parties in the State, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The group, however, said the verdict placed irrevocable legitimacy on the Alia led-administration to continue to offer quality leadership, good governance and render selfless service to the people of the state in line with his campaign promises.

According to CBJ, it is essential for Governor Alia to see this final verdict as the handiwork of God and a reflection of wishes of the people for positive and impactful change in Benue, premised on social justice, transparency and accountability.

The media group, therefore, urged governor Alia to extend the olive branch to his opponents and all Benue sons and daughters irrespective of their political affiliations for the purpose of inclusive governance.

“Now that politics is over, it is time to work. The distraction should also be over. Our people desire peace, quality infrastructure and impacts in all sectors of the economy. The administration requires the support of all citizens of the state to maintain the peace that will attract Investors into the state, the statement said.

The group further urged all Benue indegines irrespective of political affiliations to rally round the governor to rebuild the socio-economic and infrastructural status of the state.

CBJ, particularly appealed to the political class to support Alia to succeed in his quest to transform the state in the benefits of the people.
