Team Nigeria has broken the African Record in the 4×400m Mixed Relay set by the Nigerian team that competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Emmanuel Ojeli, Patience Okon-George, Sikiru Adeyemi and Omolara Ogunmakinju stormed to GOLD at the ongoing African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Ojeli led off and set the team up for a brilliant race, handing over the baton in 2nd place behind Botswana to veteran Patience Okon-George who then went into the lead just 30 metres into her race and maintained the lead up to handover.
On the 3rd leg, Bayapo Ndori regained the lead for Botswana, putting a gap of over 20 metres between himself and Sikiru Adeyemi.
Nigeria’s best chance looked like a Silver after the final pass but Omolara Ogunmakinju put on a show, running a stunning anchor to make up for the 20 meter deficit and bring home the gold ahead of Botswana.
