Fire Guts Fitness Center In Gwarinpa

There was a fire incident at Eco Fitness Hub located at 4th Avenue in Gwarinpa II District in the FCT this morning at about 10am but has been contained.
The fire, which started in the lounge of the fitness center and quickly spread was brought under control by a combined team of the FCT Fire Services, Federal Fire Services, FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The FCT Police Command and the Nigeria Red Cross were also at the incident site.
According to FEMD, Search and Rescue Team, the fire incident started at about 10 am today and was contained at about noon.
There were no casualties from the incident and most of the fitness equipment at the gym was, however, destroyed by the fire.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Reacting to the inferno, the Acting Director-General of FEMD, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, has appealed to FCT residents to be cautious as the dry season sets in.
Mohammed advised that electrical appliances must be switched off when not in use.
While cautioning against indiscriminate bush burning, he
urged residents to always use the 112 emergency toll-free number in the event of an emergency.
