The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has assured of its commitment towards increasing good production across the six Area Councils of the Territory.

Accordingly, the effort is in consonance with the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to eliminate hunger through food security in the nation.

The Mandate Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, FCTA, Lawan Kolo Geidam, gave the assurance when receiving honorary Doctorate Degree of Philosophy in ‘Leadership and Corporate Governance’ in Abuja by Wisdom University of Science and Technology, United States of America (USA), Nigeria Centre.

Geidam said he has dedicated the honour to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom has made the award a reality; adding that if the President has not been supportive irrespective of any reason, the outstanding performance towards food security would not had been noticed.

His words: “I am dedicating this honour to the President, because he has actually made this award a reality. Despite challenges, the President has been supportive and I cannot claim the ownership of this award without recognizing the resilient effort of our dear President.”

Geidam emphasized that the award will motivate the leadership in the Secretariat to do more of what has been done in the past that fascinated the attention of the learning institution.

Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Director of the African Centre for Civil Social Justice and Good Governance, Dr. Bashir Ahmad, commended Geidam’s transformative initiatives in agriculture, which aligns with national goal for food security and rural development.

According to him, “Your commitment to empowering farmers and vulnerable groups exemplifies leadership worthy of recognition and emulation, no wonder, this prestigious institution has found it worthy of honouring you with Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D).”

Ahmad said that the recommendation of the Mandate Secretary by the Centre for the Doctorate Degree Award, was in recognition of his immense contributions to societal development and agricultural reforms in the FCT, which is aimed at increasing the availability of food for the residents of FCT.

He reiterated that the initiatives of the awardee to modernize ‘Farmer Support Programme’ in the FCT towards championing climate-resilient agriculture, are blueprints for transformative governance which has attracted the Wisdom University of Science and Technology to endorse this exemplary leadership style.
