FEMD, FCT Fire Service To Collaborate On Emergency

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) and the FCT Fire Service will strengthen the existing synergy and relationship to tackling disasters and emergencies in the Territory.

The Ag. Director- General of the FCT Emergency Management Department Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, gave this assurance while receiving the Ag. Director of the FCT Fire Service, Mr. Zacheus Adebayo, that paid him a working visit in Abuja, Wednesday.

According to him, FEMD will assiduously work to consolidate on the existing relationship to ensure that all emergencies are nipped in the bud.

Mohammed reassured that the inter agency collaboration will continue to be on the front burner to foster the capacity of tackling disasters and emergencies in the FCT.

He charged the FCT Fire Service to ensure that facilities in the Fire School at Sheda, was continually maintained to be on top condition for training of firemen.

The Director -General called for more synergy between both agencies for the sustainable development of the FCT.

Speaking earlier, the Ag. Director of FCT Fire Service, Mr. Zacheus Adebayo, identified training and lack of awareness as factors hindering safety management.

Adebayo, thus, called for collective efforts in addressing emergency issues.
