FCT FLOOD ALERT: NIHSA WARNS OF HIGH FLOOD RISK OVER THE NEXT 7 DAYS.

The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NiHSA, has warned of high flood risk for the FCT over the next 7 days.
NIHSA says this is because the Izom gauge on the Gurara River has exceeded warning thresholds.
The Agency said this development may impact parts of the FCT.
A statement by NIHSA says its stations report elevated river stages.
The statement appealed to communities on the flood plain to relocate to higher grounds.
It also appealed to residents not to cross flood roads, bridges or fast-moving water on foot or by vehicle.
The FCT Emergency Management Department, FEMD, has called for the clearing of drainage channels and removal of structures built on flood plains.
FEMD is appealing to FCT residents to always use the 112-emergency toll-free number in the event of a disaster.
