Nigerian Metrological Agency (NIMET) and the University of Lagos (UniLag) have signed an MOU to strengthen their collaboration on Weather services.

In his remarks at an event in Abuja to give the deal teeth, NIMET’s Director General, Professor Sani Abubaka Mashi said that the synergy, bordering on collaborative research, metrological and climatological services would enhance the capacity of the organizations to deliver result oriented services to all the sectors of the Nigerian economy.

According to him, UniLag is endowed with abundant human resources which he said would not only help in developing the agency’s services, but also its manpower.

The Lagos station the DG said would jointly be supervised by his Agency and its collaborator-UniLag.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor of the University who was elated by the development, pledged his administration’s support towards the actualization of the proposed staff exchange programme of the organizations stressing that UniLag would also establish a Metrology department.

To him, such a department would not only boost the school’s student intake, but also give those that have flair for the course the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
