Adhere To Public Procurement Act; FCTA Tasks Practitioners

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has implored Public Procurement practitioners to always comply with the 2007 Public Procurement Act in all their official dealings to ensure optimal delivery of services to the people.

The Director, Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM), Mallam Bashir Muhammad, gave this task, while receiving the executive members of the National Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria (APPON) that paid him a courtesy visit in his Office.

Muhammad explained that sticking to the 2007 Procurement Act in their dealings would help them avoid unnecessary troubles and ensure value for taxpayers money.

The Director urged FCTA staff among them to be good Ambassadors and always be diligent in carrying out their duties as procurement officers.
While reminding them of their responsibilities as staff of the Administration, he warned against engaging in fraudulent practices.

Muhammad, however, applauded them for pioneering the Professional Association in line with the Procurement Act; urging them to come up with rules that will govern their members in line with the Civil Service rules.

He stressed the need for the Association to create awareness of their existence in order to move their practice forward.

In the same vein, Director, Public Procurement D樂威壯 epartment, FCT, Idris Musa, appreciated the efforts of APPON in ensuring that the Procurement is well positioned and assured of continuous support to Procurement Officers in the FCT.

Speaking earlier, the National President APPON, Emem Kanico informed the Director, DHRM that the Association will confer an honorary fellowship of APPON to him at the upcoming conference of the Association scheduled to hold in Lagos State.

He noted that the visit was to thank the director of Human Resource Management for his support in promoting good governance.
